Jost Van Dyke Preservation Society Sloop News

October 2007

The young men are working out in the boatshed were able to complete construction, which is now faired up and ready for a cloth sheathing.  Next, a wooden plug will be built to the shape of the keel.  A group of welders from Tortola have volunteered to help weld up the steel casement for the 5,000 pound smelting process.

The team takes a break from fairing Endeavour II’s hull

The JVD 32 Design Team met recently to discuss the boat. On the agenda was recent boat progress, the future work schedule, fundraising and selection of paint colors for Endeavour II.  After a little reminiscing over the old island sloops, all agreed that Endeavour II should carry the traditional colors of the B.V.I., which are green and yellow (taken from the crest of the flag of the British Virgin Islands).  She will have a red/brown bottom, classic off-white topsides and the national colors will appear on her sheer stripe and trim.

All the best to you out there in cyber space, from all of us here at the JVDPS.
