Dr. Mark A.
Gammon is an Operational Research analyst working for DRDC Atlantic, in Halifax,
Nova Scotia where his wife Ayse and he sail a Contessa 26
out of Armdale Yacht Club, in the North West Arm.
Dr. Gammon
graduated with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Applied
Science specializing in hydrodynamics. After working for the Canadian Navy for
9 years he moved with his wife to Istanbul, Turkey where he worked for the RMK
Shipyard as a planner.
His project on a
classic sailing Aegean “Tirandil” can be viewed at the Rahmi Koc Industrial
Museum in Istanbul. Mark learned Turkish and completed his Doctorate in
Engineering at the Department of Naval Architecture at Yildiz Technical
University.
He has presented
papers on hull form optimization, most recently at the Chesapeake Sailing Yacht
Symposium in Annapolis. He teaches naval architecture at Dalhousie University in
Halifax. In his spare time Mark enjoys designing boats.
